Be Right Or Be Happy

am back in office after a long week end. A long weekend spent jogging and watching the Wall Street meltdown on Television. With company business increasing the work load is also hitting the roof and with that comes the stress and anger associated when things / persons - do not go / work according to the way they should or you would want them to.

In order to curb this very vital and dangerous emotion called anger, I gave it a little thought and tried to pen down my views on this.

We are all aware that anger has it`s positive side such as anger if used positively can get you unprecedented success. However, long term anger leads to hate and can eventually lead to a number of physical illnesses including heart disease. Though these are physical aspects: anger also leads to unpleasant events such as taking away the enjoyment from our life, prevent proper flow of thought, break relationships and can act as an hurdle to career development. In fact anger obsesses a person so much that it blinds a person to all other aspects and just prevents the person from thinking.

After an angry exchange, your mind goes back into the flashback mode and you visualize the scene of the incident again and again adding up to the misery. In fact you become the victim of the event. The same is true when you get angry with someone else`s behaviour. The someone else is in all likely to go off and forget about it leaving you to fret and fume spoiling your own family life, vacation or sleep.

So how do we deal with the anger habit. From anybody`s point of view, anger is quite justified. Normally a person`s thinking is ""if the world ran according to my views then it would be a better place so if I get angry nobody should blame me for getting angry""
But as a matter of fact this is what you sincerely believe in and this is what most people feel about their views. And of course everybody cannot be right、nor can we engage the world on a daily basis to change it to our views.
The world does not and cannot be run by any one person`s rules / views. The world is and will always be chaotic.


You may feel that you are right when you get angry. But does getting angry really make you happy? Does it make the person on whom you got angry happy?
So the ultimate choice boils down to two options either we get angry or we are happy.
I feel Being Happy is a better luxury to be after rather than getting angry.
